The Two Rivers Drug Enforcement Team (TRIDENT) was created in 1994 to better provide our communities with drug enforcement. The primary function of TRIDENT is to collect intelligence on suspected drug dealers and users, then develop cases on those individuals. Although our primary focus for investigations is narcotics, we occasionally work cases other than drug offenses.
TRIDENT enjoys a professional working relationship with the law enforcement agencies in our area. In addition, we often work with other drug task forces and federal agencies on cases. TRIDENT officers are members of the Colorado Drug Investigators Association (CDIA), which is a large network of police officers throughout the state.
TRIDENT is made up of Police Officers from the Carbondale Police Department, Glenwood Springs Police Department, Rifle Police Department and Vail Police Department as well as Deputies from the Garfield County Sheriff’s Office.
TRIDENT is governed by a board of directors that consists of the Chiefs of Police and Sheriffs from the member agencies as well as the District Attorney of the 9th Judicial District and the Task Force Commander.
TRIDENT is funded through the Rocky Mountain High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA), the Justice Administration Grant (JAG) and local funds.
This site was created to pass along important information, collect feedback, answer questions and offer support and advice. Additionally, there is valuable educational material within our pages to help citizens, educators and law enforcement to reduce the drug problems facing our rural communities.
